Footsey

click to watch video Feet_fetish

This really just is for my friend 'Nessy who asked me if my feet were cute enough to be in a naughty foot movie. Well, are they? I don't know what kind of feet are good in naughty foot movies but I thought it was fun to make my feet look like they were on a burlesque stage. I will edit it wish some olde stripper music when I have time.

Nude budhists

Nudist_budhist_1 I had a feeling that I can get rather annoysome but what I found here was rather upsetting. If I offend anyone who is buddhist, nudist, gay or developmentally disabled, I am so sorry. I learned that I will say anything to get a laugh, even if it is laughing due to embarrasment or nervousness, I cannot control this.  I have a disease. Disclaimer: Lon and Zeev are not homosexual or 'retarded' though they may be buddhist and/or nudist.

It's one of those you-had-to-be-there moments. So it's best I don't preface this video, best if you just watch and enjoy. Please note: first 20 secs are sound only.

Who are you?

Crazy

This video is a casual moment of silliness, made from a few seconds of video. I cut it up, reversed it, slowed it and stitched it into a fictional moment that I can now use in another context. So a reminder that there are lots of divergent andd converging ideas going on in this space. It's the inside of my head, my sketchpad, my studio.

This is made to respond to some of Charlene's Ted video. The audio is from a cd I found called 'Change your fats, change your life'. Could have come up with better video but I was tired and full.

I am very pleased with the videos I posted from last weekend and I thought I would just let myself pause and think on them. But then the need to keep making is there and its 'onward ho!' (not 'onward, ho!'). The need to have that feeling of making something wins out over the fear that it won't be as good as the last one. Its strange to be so presentational while in the process of making work, but it effecting the process an the product in interesting ways. Also note ive figured out how to add lists of links to my sidebar. Its like having a shelf of books to look at in my studio!

ALOHA

live_action_eyeCLick on eye to watch it watch you. This was fun to make. The video is a 'live action' version of moving image i made several years ago. For the sound I made a clip of a drum break that I have always loved- incidentally the song its from is called 'aloha'- and I just kept pasting it into the two sound channels in the movie. I built it visually, overlaping where I thought it should get more layered. I only made a few adjustments after I watched it with sound. There's a couple of spots where the image and sound sink perfectly well, and I can't take credit for planning it that way but I can take credit for being breave enough on occasion to let randomness be my guide. Feels good to let go - you think its not going to but then you do it , usually out of desparation, and then the magic happens! yes, charlene, synchronicity - (or maybe just another rainy day in nyc)

sundayYesterday was full of random interesting visuals- this is a sample. Charlene saw this site and immediately 'got it', looks like she's giving it a try. And it shouldn't be too difficult for her as she has the mac/imovie/typepad set up and also knows a lot about video. I am thrilled to possibly have someone else regularly posting to play off of. Because of her, I have decided to start saving the video I shoot, rather than taping over the previous day. I get into being really extreme with my projects but it's probably detrimental- Ive made plenty of work that was basically undocumentalble- which is fine, but then, when no one wants to write about it or talk about it, I shouldn't be upset. Using this space for my work gives me this amazing feeling of freedom. No materials, no product, all process. It's a dreamlike state for me. I don't have to think about where I will show it , or sell it or store it - it's nothing. Really, what is a website or a quicktime file? Still, the truth is I should think (maybe just a little ) of posterity and what might come from this workspace that I will want to expand on. I could go on and on here but the bottom line is, I decided to start saving the video on Friday then I taped over Saturday by mistake.

The strange faces that you don't realize you are making. The moving images I have been posting here are not even sketches they are more like doodles. I am giving myself very little material and time to work with but at the same time allowing myself a lot of room to play within these confines. I am finding that regardless of content and, edited or not, its about finding a rythm and pacing that makes the video clip work well. The same issues of balance/imbalance apply here as they do in creating a still image.

cake This is just strange. I didn't have much interesting video to work with from today so, its last nights dinner which became this mornings breakfast and then some images from my office, rainy day and I think I threw in something pretty from this weekends jaunt to the country, its like a flashback. And then there's the Harry Potter audio. I don't know why. I just don't know. Sometimes art is like that. Sometimes, I make things which can be justified from any perspective, I know exactly why I made each decision. In other cases every thing is random just for its own sake. Just push the botton and upload.
